David v Goliath

As the story goes, two armies stood ready for battle, a valley separating the combat units, each of which stood ready on a mountain. Goliath, the champion of the world’s largest army was over nine feet tall, wearing armor and carrying a huge spear. He was a scary son of a bitch.

Every day he lumbered down the mountain toward the smaller army challenging it to send a warrior to fight him in a single battle, to decide who gets to eat and who gets to starve.

A boy named David accepted the challenge, stepping out to face Goliath armed with only his staff, a sling, and five smooth stones.

Goliath rushed toward David, anger burning in his eyes. At that moment, David used his sling to hurl a stone at his opponent. The stone struck Goliath in his forehead, and the Giant fell face-down into the dirt, stoned, dead.

The 400,000 owner operators along with the 1-3 unit carriers are a small army. Each trucker armed with the right tools, can feel confident as he stands strong to face the giant that is the ever challenging world of logistics.

There are tens of thousands of battles taking place daily when negotiating rates, when chasing down payments, when fighting for detention owed, or invoices "short paid."

These battles are not waged with slings & stones. They are waged with knowledge & business savvy... but make no mistake... they are waged against giants.

To win these battles you must have ammunition. To win the war you must use your stockpile. You must know customers' strengths & weaknesses & you must leverage both.

When you share information with like minded carriers, in a password protected environment, with documentation proving your claim of excellent brokerage engagement, or the opposite, freight brokers & their representatives are forced to adjust.

Freight Brokers - The Good - The Bad - The Ugly

  • To avoid
  • That approve DETENTION in a timely manner.
  • That have denied DETENTION.
  • That pay your invoice without delay.
  • That are professional on all levels

REMEMBER

Know who you're working with - record the representative's

name/title/contact info/brokerage

Sure there are a few among the 400,000 truckers that take loads at a loss. That don't follow up on their payments, that simply write off unpaid detention. But they don't last, they fail. They are not part of the solution. You are.

HELP ME, HELP YOU!

To win in these battles you must have ammunition. You must know your customers, share their information, good & bad, use whatever necessary to win the battle. Always remember it's a battle to feed your family, to pay your bills and to have a little left over for your future.

But the war… the war is for long-term gain, for generational change, built upon disruption, where common sense planning, along with technology, provides a future with hope, prosperity, and the gratification that comes from a job enjoyed and well done.

Attend our seminar/workshop. I'll share real life trucker stories, good and bad, and I'll ask that you do the same.

More importantly, these gatherings will begin the process of building a cohesive unit. A unit where owner operators no longer fight one another but work together, the CB radio replaced with an app (in development) that unites every trucker, every carrier, that understands the adage, "United we stand, divided we fall."

Steve’s Bio

Married for 41 years. Three children, four grandchildren. I’ve been coaching recreational basketball for thirty years. This year it's 3rd and 4th grade boys. The beauty of coaching young people lies in the gift they provide by allowing cooperating adults the ability to see the world through their eyes.

My wife and I have lived in the same house in Columbus, NJ for 32 years.

I have a Real Estate license that I earned to help family and friends when selling or buying property.

I have little respect for authority, but deep respect for self-instruction. I work to understand businesses that pique my interest by bringing me a sense of energy... to learn as much as possible.... to bring change when necessary... to leave this world better than I came into it.

I have been blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy working in environments that cry our for correction, disruption.

I love to build. Not houses, companies. I find no greater satisfaction than getting involved in a new venture, working it from the bottom up and building a plan to fix serious deficiencies.

To that end I’ve started a telemarketing company, an anti-telemarketing company, a magazine, a digital sales company, a distribution company, a dispatch company, and a freight brokerage.

I’ve had hundreds of conversations with Owner Operators. I’ve procured their freight and dispatched their trucks. I’ve hired and trained dispatchers. I’ve negotiated contracts with shippers and freight brokers. I’ve worked with software developers who have turned my ideas into websites and apps.

While building my base of experience in the trucking environment I’ve learned one thing that stands above all others, the trucker is the least regarded cog in a chain of logistic chaos that can be unforgiving at times. Join me in changing this perception. Join me in disrupting the trucking industry, through education and plan implementation.

Truth & Commitment

I pride myself on being honest, understanding what I know & equally important, what I don't know.

My promise to you is one of truth. Always.

My father came to these shores as a Polish immigrant. The day he was hired by General Motors he knew he was set. Good wages and benefits along with the representation of a strong union. I was six, my sister was three as we sat in the backseat of dad's used car for a weekend trip to Linden NJ where we along with & our Mom would see the expansive parking lot and the factory that would provide for our family. Dad would retire from GM years later with honor, pride and a sense of accomplishment.

I understand the week to week grind. It should not be. Not in the United States of America. I've started on a path to bring honor, pride and sense of self to truckers by working within the rules to disrupt an industry that seems to have lost its way. Trust me & support me, and know that I'm working for you, the underpaid, underappreciated, trucking entrepreneur.

Keep Your Eyes on the Road, Your Hands Upon the Wheel

Those words are from the song Roadhouse Blues released on the album Morrison Hotel by The Doors released 55 years ago on February 9, 1970.

Keep your eyes open, hold that wheel tight.

"We're going to the roadhouse, gonna have a real, a good time..."
